How to print barcodes – tips for clean scanning
A barcode is only as good as its print. These tips help you avoid read errors and print reliably scannable codes – single or as a label sheet.

For print, SVG or PDF is ideal because they scale losslessly. PNG is better for screen and web.
Keep the quiet zone
A light margin (quiet zone) must stay clear around the code. Without a sufficient quiet zone many scanners fail.
Contrast & colors
A dark code on a light background reads best. Avoid light codes on dark backgrounds and low contrast.
Size & resolution
Do not print too small: for 1D codes the narrowest bar width matters, for 2D the module size. Use at least 300 dpi for label printing.
